Halloween is next month and one reader has asked, “Where do you find inexpensive Halloween costumes?”
Here are a few of my suggestions:
Consignment Sales & Shops (especially for children)- The O!Baby children’s consignment sale is taking place this week in Chatham! If you haven’t been to one, it’s a great way to pick up lots of items for your kids at very low prices. I asked and yes, they do have LOTS of Halloween costumes for sale and Saturday is their half price day! The Encore Kids consignment sale takes place in Saratoga in two weeks and my readers will receive a special coupon to get in before the general public— stay tuned!!! There are also LOTS of consignment shops in the Capital Region. Email me if you’d like a list.
ThredUp– ThredUp is a very active online children’s clothing swap. You can view the items listed without even signing up and may benefit greatly by joining the swap! Halloween costumes became available on ThredUp starting September 13th.
Craig’s List– A great option for both adult and children’s costumes is CraigsList.org. Search and find outgrown or no longer needed costumes for a fraction of their original cost.
Online– I can’t promise low prices at costume websites but you can find a huge selection and discounts/coupons are usually available. Target is currently offering 20% on select Halloween costumes (through 9/24). Try BuyCostumes.com and always check for promotional discounts and coupons at sites like RetailMeNot.com before shopping online.
Friends– We probably don’t think of it often enough but a friend may just have the perfect costume to borrow! Send an email to a group of friends or post a request on Facebook and see what you get!
